Semco Maritime

Company profile

Semco Maritime is an international engineering and contracting company rooted in both the conventional energy sector and the offshore wind industry.

This puts us in a unique position to bridge today’s and tomorrow’s solutions together with world-leading partners across the globe.

Constantly seeking clever and pragmatic ways to realise global energy ambitions and enable a fossil-free future.

Objective and policy on decarbonisation

With more than 40 years of experience in the offshore Energy Industry and more than 20 years in Renewables, we have a wealth of knowledge and expertise to bring to the transition to a low-carbon energy future. We are proud to be able to use skills and expertise gained through our many years in the offshore industry.

Products and services on decarbonisation

Although our core business is still currently spread between Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas is not contradictory to sustainability. Access to affordable and reliable energy is key to people and progress (as outline by the UN with SDG #7). In the short to medium-term future, renewable energy is not sufficient to ensure enough energy for everyone. For this reason, Oil & Gas needs to be included in the energy mix, as we transition to a sustainable energy future.

Activities towards decarbonisation

Decarbonising our activities is our main priority. We have set the target of becoming carbon neutral in scope 1 and 2 by 2023, in own operations by 2030, and carbon neutral in all scopes by 2050.

In order for us to reach carbon neutrality in scope 1 and 2, one of the primary activities is to reduce the energy consumption. All of our offices worldwide have therefore introduced various energy-saving initiatives based on the best suggestions from employees. Moreover, we buy green electricity in Denmark, and similar investments will come. We are aware that some of our emissions cannot be avoided and that we must offset some emissions through climate credits. In 2022, we took the first preliminary steps in this direction, which contributes to the discussion of establishing an internal carbon price.
