Global experts and leaders convened for Vatican climate summit

WECP was represented by WECP President and Mayor of Esbjerg, Jesper Frost Rasmussen, and Lord Mayor of Perth, Basil Zempilas, when the Pope organized a climate conference – From Climate Crisis to Climate Resilience – in the Vatican City this week.

Here, experts and leaders from around the world were gathered looking at the climate crisis affecting the planet with a special focus on how to effectively manage and deal with it. Being invited to this special event was an honor and a strong recognition of the WECP member cities’ leading role in the green transition and presented great opportunities to share information and network.

The agenda in the discussions and throughout the conference was clear: It is the cities and municipalities that must lead the way towards a green future.
