Esbjerg to host the 2022 World Energy Cities Partnership Annual General Meeting

During the 2021 Annual General Meeting, our member cities selected Esbjerg, Denmark to host the 2022 World Energy Cities Partnership AGM. The event will take place from the 5th-8th October 2022, and the main theme will be the energy transition based on public and private partnerships.

Since 2013, the city of Esbjerg has played an active role in the World Energy Cities Partnership and Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen is currently serving as Vice President.

“We have benefitted from being a member of WECP, and to show our gratitude we hope to host the best possible AGM in Esbjerg. Our city remains the capital of Denmark’s offshore industry, and the energy transition is fully visible here. The members of WECP will experience Esbjerg, as we stand on the brink of an important journey, where Esbjerg plays an important role in the Danish transition from black to green energy”, says Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen.

The city of Esbjerg will begin preparing for the meeting and the organizers look forward to welcoming the members of WECP to the sustainable Energy Metropolis of Esbjerg.

WECP President and Lord Provost of Aberdeen Barney Crockett congratulated Esbjerg following the city’s successful application to host the 2022 Annual General Meeting event.

Mayors and delegations from across the globe look forward to experiencing Esbjerg and the sustainable journey, which characterizes the city. As a member city, Esbjerg has insights to share into renewable energy, and I am pleased to see, that this will be part of the program.”
