The World Energy Cities Partnership Annual General Meeting

We are looking forward to the next WECP Annual General Meeting which will take place in Perth, Australia, November 1 – 3, 2023, with the welcome reception on the evening of October 31, 2023.

In October 2022, Esbjerg, Denmark, was pleased to host the WECP Annual General Meeting where the main theme was the energy transition based on public and private partnerships. Since 2013, the city of Esbjerg has played an active role in the World Energy Cities Partnership and Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen is currently serving as President.

Since the first official World Energy Cities Partnership AGM in June 1996, the world’s leading energy cities have met on a yearly basis to discuss the latest challenges and opportunities associated with the energy sector, the green transition, and liveable cities.

WECP mayors and officers attend meetings during the AGM event to share expertise and explore collaboration opportunities between the cities, to drive the transition to a more sustainable energy future.

The World Energy Cities Partnership Working Group Meeting

In addition to the Annual General Meeting, the WECP officers meet on a yearly basis at the World Energy Cities Partnership Working Group Meeting. This meeting takes place in spring, preceding the Annual General Meeting. The Working Group Meeting allows WECP members to discuss key topics and propose changes to the WECP, ahead of the AGM.

The Working Group Meeting takes place in Houston, USA, alongside the CERAWeek.

CERAWeek

The next CERAWeek will be March 18 – 22, 2024.

During CERAWeek 2023, multiple World Energy Cities Partnership mayors were official speakers at the event:

  • Mayor Sylvester Turner (Houston)
  • Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen (Esbjerg)
  • Mayor Jyoti Gondek (Calgary)

The World Energy Cities Partnership also held a reception at the event on March 8th, to honour WECP Mayors. The reception was hosted by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

The World Energy Cities Partnership is excited to partner with CERAWeek to bring the voice of the urban environment to the world.
